Jul 28, 2010 - Pensacola, Florida, U.S. - Oil spill cleanup crews hit the white sands of Pensacola Beach on Wednesday morning raking the sands and sifting for tar balls. Waves of gooey tar blobs were washing ashore in growing numbers on the white sand of the Florida Panhandle last week as slicks from the BP spill continued to drift ashore. The tar balls came ashore after prevailing winds died and were replaced with heavy onshore winds. The tar balls washed up 15 feet at Pensacola Beach, which is already suffering from massive vacation cancellations. BP halted cleanup crews after a tropical storm threat but have reinstated efforts this week..(Credit Image: © Marianna Day Massey/ZUMApress.com)
